Once a motorsport staple in South Florida, Palm Beach International Raceway (formerly Moroso Motorsports Park) blended straight-line speed with road course versatility. Known for its legendary drag strip and technical road layout, PBIR attracted everyone from weekend warriors to professional racers. From NHRA events under the lights to endurance testing and club track days, this circuit held a unique place in Florida’s motorsports scene. Though now closed, its legacy lives on in the memories of those who raced, tuned, or spectated from its palm-lined paddock. Our artwork captures the dual identity of this beloved track — part adrenaline, part nostalgia — for fans who still feel the rumble of engines echoing across West Palm Beach.

Palm Beach International Raceway, located in Jupiter, Florida, opened in 1964 and became a cornerstone of South Florida motorsports. Originally known for its 1/4-mile drag strip, PBIR evolved to include a 2-mile, 11-turn road course that served everything from professional series to amateur track days. After decades of hosting NHRA, SCCA, and endurance events, the track was closed in 2022, but its legacy remains firmly etched in racing history.

Between the relentless heat of South Florida and the track’s mix of tight turns and flat, high-speed sections, PBIR challenged both machines and drivers. The drag strip was known for sticky launches and demanding track prep, while the road course pushed brake and tire endurance. On-track temps soared, making PBIR as tough on tuning as it was on timing.

- Hosted NHRA national drag racing events that drew top-tier talent throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
- Used by Skip Barber and Bertil Roos racing schools for training future drivers.
- Frequent test track for IMSA teams prepping for Sebring and Daytona.
- Held “Street Wars” and club racing nights that made it a staple of local car culture.

PBIR was more than just a raceway — it was a community hub for motorsport fans in the Southeast. Local clubs, schools, and pros alike shared the asphalt. While it didn’t host global championships like F1, its accessibility and variety helped foster grassroots racing and create lifelong fans and drivers.

- Featured on the TV show “Pinks: All Out” and countless YouTube drag racing clips.
- Used as a proving ground by Hennessey Performance and other tuning shops.
- Was one of the few tracks in the U.S. with both a drag strip and full road course in operation at the same time.
- Its road course was known for being deceptively tricky despite its modest size.

Fans loved Palm Beach International Raceway for its raw authenticity and unmatched accessibility. Whether it was your first time down the drag strip or your hundredth lap around the road course, PBIR made racing feel personal. You didn’t need to be a pro to feel like one. The warm night air, the roar of engines echoing through the palms, and the laid-back crowd created an atmosphere unlike any other in the region. For many, it was the place where lifelong passions were born, friendships were forged, and cars were more than machines—they were a way of life.
